Some of the Democrats have been floating the idea of super ticket of Hilary/Obama or Obama/Hilary. Does anyone think this would work or if they cab actually get one or the other play second fiddle? Would they both be willing to step back for the good of the country if they actually mean what they say?
It's more than one question but it is something to talk about and consider.

I think it was Tom Daschle that said, "I think it's the first time the person coming in second offered the person in first the second place job."
Also, if Clinton is selling the idea that he's not qualified for President, why would she tout him as Vice President? I mean, he's one bullet away from being President. So if he's not qualified, he's still not qualified...
One last point...and I hesitate to bring it up. I have no problem with a woman being President, nor do I have ANY issues with a black man being President. But you suppose having both on one ticket will hurt their chances with a large base of the voting American population being white? I seriously don't know the answer to the question. But I suspect that we haven't advanced as far as we'd like to think we have. Just a thought.

Obama is saying that her campaign in spreading rumors of a joint ticket so voters will get the perception that a vote for her is also a vote for him.

I can't believe after all they have said against one another they could work together. I expect their egos will get in the way too.

I think he made it very clear in a speech about an hour or so ago, that it ain't gonna happen. The Clintons will do anything to steal the nomination from him, so he'd better grow a set before it's too late.

You mean he has no set?!? I would expect his voice to be much higher. :)

There will not be a super ticket...there's really no shot in hell in that happening, and I'd be utterly surprised if it ever came to that...
As JB said, the Clintons will do anything to steal the nomination from him, including putting out the perception that a super ticket could occur under Hillary, which could potentially steal some votes from him...there's no way, though, that a Clinton/Obama ticket ever actually happens...

I find no small irony in the fact that the Democrats, especially the Clintons, who have always counted on/expected the black vote as automatic, now are desperately trying to find a way to screw their party's first "electable" A-A candidate. My prediction is that this is going to get really nasty in the next few weeks.:)

I don't see a "super ticket" happening. If by some chance it did, if Clinton and Obama were to come together, I would vote with the other presidential party because there is no way in hell I would ever vote of one in particular of these candidates. I won't say which one it is just to stay out of a debate. LOL

Bush Sr. and Reagan had some choice words before Reagan moved forward with Bush as VP in the '80 election.
Bush pointed at Reagan's economic plans. "Bush called Reagan's economic plan, anyone anyone, something dee-ohh-ooh, anyone, anyone. Voo-doo economics."

What the hell would be so "Super" about a Obama/Clinton ticket?

I think Obama/Clinton would be a very strong ticket. Several of their debates turned out to be love feasts which is the first indication that this could very easily happen. Hillary would definitely accept the VP shot. However, if Obama accepts it, that would rule out running again for President in 2012. Thus he may not accept it. The party candidates usually make-up after the Convention and I'm sure that will happen again. The Bush/Reagan make-up sighted above is a good example.
Best estimates are that Obama should have a 100-200 delegate lead on Hillary going into the convention. However, he will not have enough to win without Super Delegate help. Hillary (the Clintons) will have some pull with the Super Delegates but the question is: Will the super delegates go against the popular Democratic vote? If they do, they would antagonize the black voters they have long wooed and irritate todays young voters. This would set the Democratic party back many decades. The black votes and many young voters simply would not turn out to vote for Hillary. Thus my money says Obama will get the nomination.

I will catch a lot of hell for this one (and it won't be the first or last time), but if you mix the so-called super ticket of Clinton and Obama in either order......put that in a soup with some crazy, crazy insane rednecks that exist out there in our world.....
and the Speaker of the House becomes much more important :(

Unfortunately, you are right. But since they have chosen to run it should not affect the vote anyone plan to cast

I've thought the same thing. I worry about Obama especially if he wins the nomination at the convention.

Your tax rates. Super high, that is.
yea, here it is:furious3:
Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:
CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN
15% (no change)
OBAMA
28%
CLINTON
24%
How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN
15% (no change)
OBAMA
39.6%
CLINTON
39.6%
How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama or Clinton become president. The experts predict that "Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit."
INCOME TAX
MCCAIN
(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250
OBAMA
(reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
CLINTON
(reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
How does this affect you? No explanation needed. This is pretty straight forward.
INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN
0%
(No change, Bush repealed this tax)
OBAMA
keep the inheritance tax
CLINTON

Not sure what's worse. The democrats spending a lot of money and raising taxes to pay for it or the republicans spending just as much money but lowering taxes and driving our country further into debt. I think people focus too much on taxes and not enough on spending. Stop spending so damn much money and taxes wouldn't be as much of a problem.

I would have to question the "no change" figures on income tax just because it doesn't seem to match mine. Here are the current rates:
http://www.savewealth.com/taxes/rates/
(Married 75K taxable = $15,496)
Capital gains tax doesn't effect most homeowners:
http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/real-estate/20041018a1.asp
I really can't say much about dividend taxes though 40% does seem a bit steep. I'm really not sure why dividends should be taxed differently than any other income.
Estate taxes as of 2007:
http://www.themoneyalert.com/Estate-Tax.html
There is no question that taxes will raise under a democratic administration but you have to be carefull about propoganda. :) I don't want my taxes to go up either, but there may not be any reasonable alternative.
In the past -- when we generated federal debt is was primarily to ourselves. There is a growing shift towards foriegn bond sales which means that this debt is being held elsewhere (China?) which concerns me. Federal debt seems to be a much bigger issue (due to this) today than it did to me in the past.

Hmm.. two that may get shot and one that might just drop dead on his own?
I'm not that worried about any of the candidates .. but President Pelosi? uh... *that* I find worriesome.
