Jarboe is arrested in Georgia on two felony complaints.
NORMAN -- Oklahoma football signee Josh Jarboe was arrested Thursday night on two felony complaints, and on Friday, OU coach Bob Stoops declined to discuss his and Jarboe's options because he didn't yet have enough information.
"I obviously just became aware of it yesterday evening," Stoops said following Friday's spring practice, "and we haven't had time to find out all the details, so until -- it wouldn't be appropriate until I knew exactly all the details and talked to the people involved over in that area. So it's premature for me to have anything to say."
According to DeKalb County (Ga.) online records, Jarboe, 18, and James Davis, 17, were arrested by DeKalb Public Schools police officers and booked into DeKalb County Jail at 6:13 p.m. Thursday for theft by receiving stolen property and for having a weapon on school grounds. Jarboe remained in the county jail on Friday. Formal charges had not been filed because arrest reports had not been completed, according a report on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Web site. (aka Atlanta Urinal-Constipation)
Jarboe, a senior at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga., chose OU over LSU, Florida and Georgia. He was ranked by Rivals.com as the 10th-best wide receiver prospect in the nation, and was the No. 13 overall player nationally as ranked by ESPN.
With the early departure of Malcolm Kelly to the NFL, OU is searching for a deep-ball specialist. It's not clear if Jarboe will be allowed to play at OU next fall.
It's the third time in seven months a Sooner or future player has been arrested. In August, first-year freshman wide receiver Ryan Broyles was arrested for stealing gasoline by unauthorized use of a pump key and codes from a Norman convenience store. In December, junior defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger was arrested in Tempe, Ariz., for shoplifting a coat during the Sooners' Fiesta Bowl trip.
Broyles, Granger, and Jarboe: uo's version of the "triplets". :cool-smiley-027:
