Why would Texas and aTm leave the Big12? It just doesnt make sense.

Just bird cage fodder. People want to sell news so they fabricate and fluff.

UT, in particular, has ZERO motivation to go to the B12, the P10, or any other 10.

All the Texas schools just need to form their own conference and Iowa State join the Big Televen. That alone would cause enough of a rift to keep things interesting.

Crazy idea, you say? Let's count the BCS Schools in Texas:

North Texas
SMU
Houston
UTEP
Texas
A&M
Tech
Baylor
Rice
TCU

That's 10, count 'em, 10 BCS schools in Texas. Create 12 10-team conferences and a playoff system is already in the works!

Won't happen. UT does not want the likes of TCU and Houston being BCS schools. Many kids, all things equal, will pick a BCS school over a non-BCS school for that simple reason. TCU has already shown the ability to compete as a non-BCS and UT doesn't want that much more competition for the top recruits, which UT pretty much owns in the state of Tejas right now.

And if you think UT doesn't want any more Tejas BCS schools competing for state recruits, imagine how atm, ttek and BU feel about TCU or SMU or Houston being BCS.

It's all about the money. Show me the money. Moneytime. Green Rain.

UT's AD already has the highest income in the NCAA. Right now due to the B12's revenue sharing (which isn't going away) they get a lion's share of TV revenue. UT's TV revenue is on par with every other league in the nation except the B10.

The point being for UT... you already make the most in the NCAA and 6-7 mil more than the teams you are keeping down (BU, CU, etc). Why would you leave a league where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer for a league (B10) that the bad teams (NW, Purdue, etc) get the same money you do?

Better to be the biggest fish in a big pond than to be an equal fish in the biggest pond.

The TV revenues by conference are staggered and cyclical. The Big 12 did its contract earlier than the others and thus right now is behind the 8 ball a bit. In a few years when it is renewed, we will be back on par or above the others and we will see articles about schools wanting to join the Big 12.

When it is renewed (not until 2015), the B12 is going to make a network, much like the B10 has, therefore UT will get the same amount of money after that point and more than everyone else leading up to it.
