DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies and a man who contends he was discriminated against because he was denied a voucher to a free "Ladies' Night" game must go through state-ordered mediation.
The Colorado Civil Rights Division issued a probable-cause finding in a sex-discrimination claim filed by Stephen Horner.
His complaint was filed after he attended a Rockies game and women were handed a voucher to attend a future game for free. He said he asked for one but was told he couldn't have one because he is a man.
The Rockies, who can appeal the decision, have said it was their intent to offer the vouchers to anyone who asked for them.
Horner, a self-described anti-feminist, in January declared an end to "Ladies' Nights" after winning a similar ruling involving such promotions at nightclubs.
A complaint by Horner, lodged against a bar at the Mall of America in Minneapolis in 1992 led to a statewide ban of Ladies' Night promotions.
The Rise Nightclub in Denver was ordered to pay Horner $50 plus $91 in court costs in November. That same month, a judge ruled Horner is owed $100 plus court costs for May 2007 incident at Moontime Bar and Grill.
Horner represented himself in both cases and argued the establishments violated his civil rights by unlawfully discriminating against him. Horner has become an outspoken critic of events where free cover charges and discounted drinks are offered to women only
