Dana Holgorsen the offensive coordinator at the University of Houston, will become the OC at OSU. Details are forthcoming. Looks like $500,000 per. Cliff Kingsbury also to come.
Dana was Mike Leach's right hand man at TT. He played for Leach years ago at Appalachia St., and was widely considered to be the next offensive genius. Leach hated losing him to Houston.

Homerun by Mike Gundy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Its solid now. The same coach that called our offense retarted when we played them 4 months ago....lol

Big stuff here

Have no confirmation but supposedly this has been verified with Holgerson himself on the radio in Houston. Kingsbury is coming in as a graduate assistant.

Gotta say this looks like the work of Holder/Boone and very glad for it. I like Gundy and think he can be our coach of the future but everyone needs to be put back into line at times and this looks to be one of those times.

Apparently, there's no official confirmation available anywhere, but a number of reputable sources are saying that something is in the works. Very exciting! Sure hope it happens!

(And rumor is that the TTech boards are very upset about this possible development. And that's always good news!)

Tennessee: Derek Dooley has accepted the head coaching position. Our sources tell us that Dooley will be bringing Terry Joseph (defensive backs) and Tommy Spangler (defensive coordinator) with him to Rocky Top. We have also heard that Dooley has interest in Oklahoma State offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer. Another source tells us that Stan Eggan (Louisiana Tech linebackers coach) could be joining the staff, but hasn’t been told as of this morning. He may end up as defensive line coach. The same source tells us Kippy Brown could be moving to running backs.

Mississippi State: FootballScoop has confirmed that Dan Mullen has offered Oklahoma defensive line coach Chris Wilson the defensive line job. Our sources tell us it is not a done deal just yet.

Oklahoma State: FootballScoop has just confirmed that Houston OC Dana Holgorsen will be joining the Oklahoma State coaching staff. Our sources tell us there will be some shuffling around on Mike Gundy’s staff at Oklahoma State.

Brewer to Tenn.? That would 'splain how room is going to be made for Kingsbury on the staff. Hate to lose Gunter though.

Word is that Brewer and Mathews will be moved until they can find other jobs.

We'll see what happens. I'll miss Brewer if that's true!!!! Don't really know much about Mathews.

I've heard that Sumlin may go to Tenn and that he couldn't take any asst. with him.

Yahoo now reporting the Dooley to Tenn story official. Cutcliffe staying at Duke.

I wouldn't post it and call it solid if it was a rumor.

Brewer to Tennessee as a wr coach or even OC is being looked at. Hate to lose him as he was a class act, but sometimes this happens. He will have a job in the SEC before the weekend is over I suppose.

Though obviously nobody has signed anything or held a presser, so it could fall apart I suppose.

The Brewer leaving stuff may not be true yet. I know the sports animal yokels have been saying this, but we shall see. I'm sure he is upset.
Matthews will obviously not be qb coach if this does happen. He can go back to working for the dept, in an off the field position.

Coming on the heels of this from today's World, I say you're probably right.

"Gundy says he will continue to coach quarterbacks and call plays. He says offensive game-planning is a collaborative effort involving all of the offensive coaches.

"Our game-planning is no different than when Larry Fedora was here," Gundy said. "All the ins and outs are basically the same."

Gundy says that if he succumbed to fan pressure, "then I wouldn't be worth my salt in this position, whether it's a matter of discipline or X's and O's or personnel. The decisions that I have to make are going to be 50-50. Half of the people are going to be fired up and half aren't going to like it."

Sigh.... Maybe he'll still call the plays. :huh2:

One thing about Gundy. He will straight up not tell the truth to the media.

hahahahaha

I would love to find the 50% that liked his play calling the last two games of the year. I'm sure they were real "fired up".

Yahoo is reporting it as a done deal (scroll to bottom of story):

Oklahoma State taps Holgorsen

Houston offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen has been hired for the same post at Oklahoma State.

Holgorsen has been the Cougars’ coordinator the past two seasons. Prior to that, he was a coordinator at Texas Tech (2000-07).

This is looking more and more likely to be truth. TW is on board now, and cites " a source close to the OSU football program."

I would bet the message delivered to MG was short, blunt and did not include an "if" option.:D

I don't listen to Sports Animal anymore, who needs those pigs. But I turn it on an hour and a half ago to see what they were saying about this Holgorson stuff. 1.5 hours later and they have YET to say anything.

Traber has spent an hour now talking about Kiffin and Tennessee. Oh, he also took the time to beat his chest about how HE was the single man responsible for stirring up the masses and getting TDP to "rethink" his decision to hire Joe Kines at OSU.

He SERIOUSLY is under the impression that HE is responsible for that "non-hiring". Oy.

1.5 - 2 hours after this fire started on what sounds like a GREAT OC hire, and WWLS hasn't said a word.

Jeez, it didn't take long to remind me why I turned that station off long ago.

Actually, the letter I wrote to Terri Dawn was the reason Kines wasn't hired.:action-smiley-033:

I listen occasionally, but haven't in a few weeks.

The weird thing about them not reporting on it is that the first I heard of the hiring was from a text I received from the Sports Animal. Go Figure.

I will give them this much credit. If you sign up for their OSU text alerts, they are real good about sending out a lot of info.

But yeah, for the "marquee" sports talk station in the state to not mention it yet, is absolutely pathetic.

For what it's worth, Traber talked about it in his first segment at 2:00. He gives people plenty of things to criticize him with, but this is not one of them.

Traber was also on earlier in the day and they talked about it a lot in the morning when the rumors started flying. They even interviewed the Houston radio guy that broke the story.

That's good to know.

I never turned it on at my office, so I was just commenting on what was posted.

We did turn it on for about 30 minutes yesterday on the drive home, but never heard a word about it.

Timing I guess.
