Me!

3rd place 40 and over superheavyweight no gi. I was the only guy signed up at heavyweight (200-225). I tried to convince them to give me my gold medal and let me head out, but that was a no go. Had to move up to superheavy to compete. Everyone was 30+ lbs heavier than me.

Second match, I got slammed pretty hard and heard something pop in my rubs/back. Tapped and got out with my bronze. Still sore, but no sharp pains when breathing like yesterday so I think it'll be all good. I'v got to get better, and start training for my next tourney in Feb.

Congratulations! It sounds like a rough sport. What exactly is "Grappling"? How does it differ from wrestling?

The major differences are that a shoulder pin doesn't end a match, and grappling allow wins by submission holds and chokes as well as by points. You see alot of wrestlers in these tournaments along with alot of jiu jitsu practioners. Some grappling tournaments are submission only which means there is no time limit, and you go until someone taps out.

In both wrestling and grappling, there is no striking or kicking allowed. That's for the karate wusses...haha.
