Joel Osteen....thoughts?

Do you guys know of this cat, and what do you think about him?

I like his message. He is a little Dave Ramsey-ish, which to me is good. I am not a big fan of these uber-churches, but I do like his message. I feel he is a Christian that wants you to find the good in people, not look for the negatives and be judgemental.

I know he is taking heat from alot of the old school Evangelicals for not being "firey and brimstoney" enough.

Any thoughts?

My wife read his book and liked it. I don't have a problem with him. I'm a little torn by these guys making truck loads of cash. On one hand this is america, and I say more power to him, on the other I think he should (and maybe he does) donate quite a bit of that money. It's hard for me to say when I don't know about his finances. My wife and I go to a pretty big church here in Illinios: http://www.ccclife.org/ My pastuer recently traded in his 95 Ford Taurus for used Ford Escort. I don't have access to his bank accounts but the fact that he rolls around in a POS even if its for show, makes me trust him alot.

Think 60 minutes did a segment on him and his family. Might google the segment or possibily You Tube the interview. Seems to have his head in the right place, doesn't let the money & popularity affect his outlook.
