OSU Notebook: Dream sequence

Oklahoma State's upset victory over fourth-ranked Kansas didn't surprise everybody.

Freshman center Ibrahima Thomas told a reporter from the OSU student paper he had a "weird feeling" the Cowboys were going to beat the Jayhawks. His comments appeared in print before the game.

Asked after the game why he had a feeling OSU would win, Thomas said it stems from a dream he had many months ago (he guessed November). He said a sequence from the dream actually occurred Saturday.

Said Thomas, "After that dream, I told Marshall (Moses) that I don't know, because we are a young team, how our season is going to go. But whenever we play Kansas, we are not going to lose."

Marcus Dove said Thomas told other players about the dream. "Thankfully, that came true," Dove said, who added that he wants Thomas to have more dreams.

One coach shy: OSU assistant James Dickey did not attend the game. His father, J.B., died Thursday, so he spent Saturday with family members in Arkansas.

"He is family just like any one of the teammates, so we've been praying for him and we hope all is well with him," said Dove.

Sean Sutton said Dickey called afterward. "He wanted us to relay to the team how thrilled he was and how proud he was and that he loved them and it was a great effort to watch on TV."

Early exit: OSU fan Rick Cooper was ordered to leave the arena with 5:59 remaining in the first half.

A member of the officiating crew booted Cooper because a fan sit ting courtside accidentally touched an official with his hand. The fan was Gary Sparks, whose architectural firm was responsible for Gallagher-Iba Arena's renovation. Sparks said he confessed, but Cooper still got the blame.

"I took the fall for Gary," Cooper said in a telephone interview after the game.

Cooper said he got 47 text messages and e-mails in regard to the ejection before the game had finished.

"The guy they kicked out is a great guy and a friend of mine and he is a supporter of OSU," Sutton said. "I was pretty frustrated to see that happen."

Sutton was cautious with his comments because he didn't want to offend the official. "So be careful how you write that," he told reporters.
