View Full Version : One big problem for OU

I haven't seen it mentioned much anywhere but I think OU is in for some major issues on Saturday for one simple reason.

THEY ARE STARTING A WALK ON AT CENTER!!!!!

This position is the main cog in so much of the offense and they are trusting this to a walk on player. The snap to the QB is the first place you have to be concerned about. The center has to be in sync with the QB or it can throw off timing for everything and then of course there is the higher chance for fumbles in the exchange. Next is the fact that the center usually calls the blocking assignments and changes at the line. Do you really want to trust this to a never used walk on player. Then finally at the most basic level is that coming directly over or through the center is the fastest way to the QB and you know that with a walk on in that spot Young will be bringing heat right up the gut.

I would not be surprised to so Landry Jones spending a lot of time on his backside, either on the field or on the bench due to injury...

I think he played a little on Saturday. So he will have experience coming into the OSU game. ;)

He's actually played quite a bit this year, whether at guard or center...what gets lost in the shuffle of all of OU's lineman injuries is that they rotate often on the line to keep players fresh...

Uh, they weren't so fresh against Tech.

No depth means no rotation which means there's no opportunity to keep them fresh...I think we have 6 or 7 linemen available for the game that are not redshirting...there are a couple who are redshirting, but it'd be a real shame to have to pull their redshirts this late in the season...to the best of my knowledge, this is who is available:

OTs: Trent Williams, Cory Brandon
OGs: Tavaris Jeffries, Stephen Good (I think he's healthy), Brian Simmons
OC: Brian Lepak

And then Mensik is the emergency OL if needed...

Isn't this the Oklahoma kid that played at Colorado State?
