VALLEY SPRINGS, Ark. (OSU Athletics <http://www.okstate.com>) — J.B. Dickey, father of Oklahoma State assistant basketball coach James Dickey, passed away at his home in Valley Springs, Ark., on Thursday night. He was 82.
A basketball coach throughout most of his life, Dickey won the Arkansas state championship at Valley Springs High School in 1961. He loved the game of basketball and followed the careers of his sons closely.
Dickey knew Coach Henry Iba on both a personal and professional level. He was also close friends with Coach Eddie Sutton and his family.
Dickey is survived by his wife, Fayma, and his two sons, James and Randall, an assistant coach at UTEP.
“The thoughts and prayers of the Oklahoma State Cowboy Basketball family are with Coach Dickey and his family in these difficult times,” said OSU Head Coach Sean Sutton. “Mr. Dickey was a special person. He made a positive impact on the lives of many people. He will be missed.”
