Memphis took them to a 2 point game with a chance to win it on the last shot tonight. Memphis is a young team with a new coach in his first HC job !!
Kansas is tough in the middle with their height and Collins is a playmaker and settles the team down when he is playing, but they aren't playing like a number 1 team in the nation.
Big 12 should be interesting this year.

Oh, KU certainly didn't look overpowering, but I'm not reading too much into it.
I mean, it's extremely early in the season, Kansas is a young team, and honestly, I don't think Memphis (even with a new coach) is going to be bad by any means.

Yeah, I see your point. The new coach has got the town fired up over here. And apparently he has the team fired up also. Plus as it stands right now he has the Number 1 recruiting class in the nation committed for next year. 3 -5 stars and 2 - 4 stars. Memphis should be tough for the next couple of years.
In Memphis now it is: Cal who?
But what I was alluding to is the hustle that they showed on defense seemed to surprise Kansas. If we can duplicate that hustle we should do all right against them.

I think somebody said it during the telecast last night, but yes, if you're a team that plans on beating Memphis, you better do it this year because they're going to be pretty good here in the near future (if not immediately).
Honestly, I know a lot of people are pickin Tulsa to win C-USA this year, but after watching TU's game against Arkansas-Little Rock and Memphis' game against Kansas, I'm not sure I wouldn't pick the Tigers to repeat as conference champs.
Anyway - in regard to your take on the Big 12 this year - I'm looking forward to it. Obviously, I think you have to make KU and Texas your pre-season favorites, but there's several teams (Oklahoma State included, and I don't think I'm saying that out of obligation) who I think could make a strong push for the conference title should they heat up at the right time.

Its way to early to be judging these teams. Lets wait and see how they look in January.
