Goat,
Speaking of scummy squats, what ever happened to their "Soupy Sales" clone, Stanley Abel?

you mean their Armoury? Before Lloyd Noble they were playing bball there back in the mid 70's if this OLD memory is right.
We had GIA from 38? or the 4H center while the goons were playing in a WWI armoury

Stan Abel......my god I could have gone another 20 years without thinking of him. Surely Kelvin Sampson and to a degree Bob Stoops watched film of this guy to learn how to whine, act like a jerk and be a royal pain in the ass.
So Cactus, you say he has a young wife? Yeah I can see that. He always had a eye for the ladies. I always wondered how he recruited some of the talent he did while at uO? Back then they put out a fairly decent team.

Fred Davis and I went to Tom Chesbro funeral last year and were waiting to leave the church, when we saw Stan Abel leaving. We were going over to the O room at GIA for a post reception.
I yelled out to Stan as loud as I could, "sit down Abel" and he came running over to us to greet and shake our hands with a big grin on his face. A bunch of former wrestlers were laughing and gave him a big put down sign to soften the somber occasion of Tommy Chesbro untimely departure.
Stan really deserved the flack he received around the mat, but away from the mat he was funny and really a good guy. And there is still nothing wrong with his eyesight when it comes to pretty women.;)
