With a career best 206 yards rushing against Iowa State Saturday, Keith Toston has moved up to the Big-12's #2 rushing leader. The Top-5 after the weekends action are:
#1 - Daniel Thomas, Kansas St. RB JR, 108.70 yrds per game, #17 in the Country.
#2 - Keith Toston, Oklahoma St. RB SR, 98.00 ypg, #26
#3 - Alexander Robinson, Iowa St. RB JR, 96.00 ypg, #29
#4 - Roy Helu Jr., Nebraska RB JR, 89.56 ypg, #36
#5 - Rodney Stewart, Colorado RB SO, 73.50 ypg, #63
Congrats to a very fine season for Keith Toston.

Daniel Thomas still has to play Nebraska as well.
With some good outings the next three games, Keith could end up leading the league.

But if Hunter is coming back and getting more carries, his numbers could fall. If Hunter is capable of carrying the ball more, would Gundy limit his carries just because Toston has been the starter more this year? A 100% Hunter was our starter before the injury.

I love Keith, but looking at Spud come in and spell him, it is blatantly obvious who is the more talented and explosive back, even when not 100%.

Hunter has the speed to make the tailback sweep play work. Since he has been out of the line-up, we completely lost that part of our playbook. Hunter around the end is an amazingly effective play that will be nice to have back.
As we saw Saturday, Toston just does not have the speed to take it to the house when he is in the open field. Hunter scores when given a hole. Toston probably will see fewer carries over the balance of the year, but he'll still get plenty opportunity.

I think we'll see a gradual reversal on the amount of carries. That's just my opinion based on what we've seen the last two games.
I think by OU, Kendall will be getting most of the reps again, but Keith should have plenty of opportunity against Tech and Colorado to push his numbers up.
I could be totally off on that, though.

I think you're right. Hunter looked really good against Iowa State, and I would think over the next 3 weeks he'll be getting more and more work. By the time the OU game rolls around, we'll need him to be ready for a monster game.

I thought Hunter looked good on the first carry, then he looked more tentative after that...
He was quick to the outside, but wasn't as sharp cutting and trying to take it up field.
