It's finally Wrestling Season~ My better half was introduced to Wrestling by myself about two years ago in that short time he has become very involved in "Some Wrestling " At the end of last season I volunteered him to help coach at the YMCA where our son Traezilla wrestles. So as this volunteer thing gets going one of the (Mat Mom's) informs my husband that they are grooming US to take over the Wrestling Program!! My wonderfull husband "Freaked Out" and told the Mat Mom she needed to talk to me because he has never wrestled in his life and I know sooooo much more about the wrestling than he does. When I told this to OSU55 she burst out laughing saying you DO have some experience. I'm sure Wrestling Junkie is enjoying all of this, infact I'll lay money on it! It's funny to think I would take over a wrestling program as I look back on my childhood and all the hours I spent in Wrestling with my Dad and hated being drug all over Oklahoma while he coached the boys. You must understand GIRLS were NOT allowed to wrestle back then period, I was as good as the boys but was still a girl and was not allowed to compete. So now I find myself old fat and forgetfull being ask to take on such a task and wondering??? Do I have a score to settle?? Let's take it to the mat and get ready to wrestle>>>>>>>>>>>>:party-smiley-018:

Funny story.
My grandson Santana just started his first year of wrestling last week. He LOVES IT! He's doing so well that they asked him to stay for "extra practice" to get him ready for their first tourny this saturday.
They moved him to the advanced wrestlers, where he told his opponent "You're going down"....
She pinned him in about 7 seconds.
LOL!

Haaahaaaahahahaha She beat him in seconds! Traezilla will be learning the very same lesson, he doesn't think girls have a score to settle on a mat. Although we have a neighbor girl that woops it up on him pretty good on the trampoline wrestling~

Annie's grandson could have been distracted by the in-the-grasp sneeky feel. It's Hell wrestling a girl as they have the ability to greatly distract you. Maybe he was enjoying the pin.

He made up for it.. he wrestled (and beat) a good sized 5th grader.
He's in the third grade.

Do you always go for the pin?
And are you the perfect gentleman and let her be on top and "pin" you at times? ;) ;) :party-smiley-018:

You have no idea how hard it is not to say, "We all like wrestling with your ol' lady." But I'm not going to do it. Nope, wouldn't be prudent and this juncture. Not going to do it. Read my lips, Not going to say it.

Santana had his first tournament today. Six other schools. He weighed in at 105, and they had him wrestling with kids up to 139 pounds. They said they thought he was aggressive enough to handle it.
My son played football, basketball, baseball. We were never into wrestling, so I know nothing about it. So, i don't know why a 105 pound kid had to wrestle kids 34 pounds heavier than he is. I would think his first time, they'd want to let him get a feel of it. Anyway..he held his own in all three matches.
First match he was up against a good sized boy. The match went all the way to end. Santana almost pinned him twice, but he rolled out of it. The kid finally pinned Santana, but not without a huge fight.
Second match he went up against a boy that we thought might intimidate him. Santana slams himto the ground and pinned him in about five seconds. I was PUMPED!
Third match he got beat by a kid weighing in at 134, who was NOT a first year wrestler. But, Santana was fighting with all he had in him, and did pretty darn good until the kid twisted his neck pretty hard, and it was over then. He pinned Santana.
For his first tourny, and only wrestled for two weeks, he did AWESOME. I was SO proud of him today! Although he plays football, baseball and basketball, I think he found his sport.
I thought it would be boring as all get out. NO WAY! I LOVED it! It's aggressive! I'll post pictures later.
PS: The girl who beat him was there. Man,she's one tough little cookie..LOL! She knows how to wrestle.
