You can dance on the sidelines you can play. Screw the NFL, play for your scholarship.
He went in for one down, didn't he? And then came right back out? WTF?

It's the ankle foot thing...i'm more concerned about receivers dropping the ball! WTH?

Maybe they're saving him for the second half
Toston is playing like a man, though.

Toston is a fighter. He gives every ounce of effort in his body every play.
Hunter DID go in for one series, though, didn't he? Did I imagine that?

Guys, he tried but could not play. Give him a break. What is the point of playing if he cannot be effective

He didn't limp off the field or anything.... I still wonder what's up.

Actually, the fact he couldn't play is not my question here. He clearly wanted to play tonight, and was held out by Gundy after his one carry. He was waiving his hand to keep Toston off the field, when Toston ran on Hunter just shook his head while leaving the field. He wanted to be in there.
I'm not sure what happened in that situation or why he was put in at all.

So... Medical hardship? His draft status is dropping faster every game he's hurt so he could come back.

I'm not sure he can get a medical RS for playing in the second half of the season. He could RS I guess. I think we see more carries next week.

I thought it was total quarters played, but that's one of those things I'm not really sure about. And he can't RS this year because he's already played. Correct? I don't see him sitting out next year to play the one after. That'd be like old man Shipley.

If you haven't already used a redshirt, you can get a RS if you play less than 25% of the season. Medical Hardship can be applied for if they have had at least two seasons of injuries which caused them to miss more than 75% of the season. The only (cowboy) player I can remember receiving this medial hardship was Gabe Lindsey. He was here for 6 years.

As NBC says, "The more you know!" Thanks Storm

In Division I, a student-athlete can apply for a hardship waiver (aka Medical) if a season-ending injury or illness occurs in the first half of the season. The student-athlete, however, must not have participated in more than two contests or dates of competition or 20 percent (whichever is greater) of the institution's scheduled contests.

Hunter has played in (3) games. Last night was the third. Which is why I said what i did above.

You cannot redshirt if you have played even one snap.

I suspect that was about sending him a message. He was healthy the past few games, but would not pull the trigger, I suspect the Coach is letting him know they need him to play against Baylor, not just Texas.

Redshirt & Medical Hardship (Redshirt), are two completely different animals.
Medial hardships are determined by petition to the NCAA after the players eligibility has expired (sr season), if I am not mistaken.
From what I heard on the post game radio, Hunter was begging to play on the sideline, so I dont think throwing him under the bus is the right thing to do.

Yeah, somebody also said that he lined back up and was waving Toston off, but they pulled him.
I thought it was insane to put him in and then call his number right off the bat; everybody in the nation and every single Texas player on the field knew he was going to get the ball.
Seems like we should have play-actioned to him, or faked it or something other than the obvious.
Everything about it was just odd. I truly have no idea what they were trying to accomplish.

I don't remember what the next play was, but it could have been one that he had not practiced or he was not part of that package.
