It was put up as a war memorial. I wonder how many Buddhist's actually fought for the US in WWI?

What about all of the grave markers that are crosses in Arlington? Are there any Buddhists buried there or visit there?

Probably in Arlington... But this guy's Catholic. He just wants a Buddhist marker to be a jerk. We really need a "Loser Pays" system in our country. That would stop about 90% of this BS

The United States of America was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. The wall of separation which Jefferson first wrote about was not intended to separate this country and our government from these beliefs. Our founders intended only to preclude a state religion or any requirement of religion to hold a government office.

This is a very good study on religion in government during the 20th century.
Which Counties Have State Religions?

Catholics and Muslims are running neck in being the worst offenders in the number of countries with state religions. See the charts beginning on page 43.

I guess what I meant was if the article states we can't have a religious symbol on government property, what about the government using crosses in Arlington?
I think the whole thing is stupid and a waste of time as well. Some people just need something to bitch about I suppose.

In Arlington the family has a 42 religious symbols to choose from.
All of this could have been avoided if Ranger Joe at the Mojave Park would have said OK. There were never/are not/will never be any plans for a buddhist monument at the site. It's all about the constitution. When the government starts deciding that a Christian monument is OK, but a monument for any other religion is not then there is a problem.

Maybe I looking at this the wrong or simplistic way, but shouldn't the cross be allowed to stay because it was up before it became a national park, a grandfather clause, but anything else done could infringe on the separation of church and state? Or have I missed something in the story?
