View Full Version : Smith...medical redshirt/hardship?
If his injury is that bad, will he be a likely candidate for the medical year?

yes. the hardship rule is play in 3 games or 6 quarters.
RA apparently said on his show Friday that it's a sprain and not that bad.
It's unclear whether Robert or Haisten have any confirmation from the team regarding the severity.

Yesterday morning RA denied there was any injury at all.

Sources: OSU's Smith hurt
Freshman running back might require season-ending surgery.

There has been no verification from the Oklahoma State football program, but various sources are reporting that running back Jeremy Smith has sustained a shoulder injury that may require surgery and end his freshman season with the Cowboys.
It is believed that Smith may have been injured in last year's Class 6A championship game, and that the injury — possibly a torn muscle — was aggravated during practice on Tuesday.
During last week's 56-6 victory over Division I-AA Grambling State, Smith played for the first time this season. The former Union star carried 15 times for 160 yards — the most rushing yards ever by an OSU freshman.
On Friday night, Smith and OSU freshman wide receiver Tracy Moore attended Union's homecoming game against Owasso. Several sources close to the Union program said they were told that Smith had sustained a potentially serious shoulder injury.
Smith and Moore left Union-Tuttle Stadium before the end of Union's 42-7 win Friday. Last season, they led the Redskins to the Class 6A state title.
The OSU backfield already had been diminished by the absence of Kendall Hunter, who has missed two full games with an ankle-foot injury. It has not been determined whether Hunter, last year's Big 12 rushing leader, will play in next week's conference opener at Texas A&M.
OSU has been dogged by injuries as quarterback Zac Robinson and wide receiver Dez Bryant have dealt with hamstring issues, and cornerback Perrish Cox has a sprained shoulder.

Not a bad situation to be in that you have a Stayley, Hunter and Smith go down yet still have a Toston, Johnson and Miller available to play. A Pratt waiting in the wings if it gets to that.

OSU practices must be brutal.
