Atkins for me. It's the best way I've ever found (for me.)

Actually, it is partly true since I don't eat big portions anymore. I don't hardly any sweets anymore and I have cut out almost all the starches. It's not a whole lot of fun but I have to lose the weight.

How long have you been at it? Just curious because I started doing the same things (no sweets, no pop, smaller portion sizes, lots more exercise) things and dropped 12 pounds within the first week and a half. Then went up some and have gone back down, but can't lose more than 12 pounds even though its been 5 weeks now...

Around 30 years.

Actually, over the last three years. It just seems like 30. I'm kind of at standstill right now too. I'm trying to put more time in. The more calories I burn during the week should help start losing again.

two pounds a week is pretty good. I am down 57 lbs but have hit a plateau. My doctor took me off all sugar and dairy products. I don't think you can eat enough to gain weight eating fruits, vegetables, and lean meat. I've been drinking soy milk. It's not too bad. I also walk 2 miles a day, 4-5 days a week. If my knees were better, I would probably run.

I don't know how much you guys intend to lose in total, but it's a pretty well documented phenomenon to stall, sometimes for quite a long time, when you've lost about 20% of your body weight. When your body's darned good and ready, your losses will resume again after this plateau.

Congrats to everyone! Losing weight is not easy.

When I lost my wieght, it was 15 pounds at a time, then the plateua for a while. Your body has to occassionaly take time to catch up to the weight loss. It took me 9 months to get 40 pounds off. I was able to keep it off for 2 years, then my hormones went off the deep end and I gained it all back. So I am now working to lose it again.

Fan....That is awesome!!! The part about you losing weight that is.....not too sure about the dirty old man!!!

I've lost 10lbs in the last 3 weeks and haven't been able to exercise at all. I'm having back surgery tomorrow so I hope I can start walking again in about 4-6 weeks. It will be slow at first but at least it will be something. I've got about 35 total I need to get off.

Shades of OSU in the early 70's!:party-smiley-018:

Seriously, kudos to all of you that are fighting/winning this battle. My scales aren't broken, and the post-chemo/radiated porker is gonna have to do something soon. Hey, great idea, "wait 'til next year".:ex_omg:

I have two pairs of jean shorts that used to fit me but I now have to wear a belt to hold them up.

Hope the surgery goes well. Will be thinking and praying for you.
