I know most on here dont like the oklahoman and I am not subscriber but they had a interesting peice on the recruiting classes since 1999 . I was amazed that db Elbert Craig and cb Alvin Porter were 4 star recruits. so Rashaun Woods , Joqua Thomas , Greg Richmond , Chris Massey , Elbert Craig , Alvin Porter were all 4 star recruits . this must have been one of osu's best recruiting class . this year's class has mostly 4 star recuits and if they can play well enough then this too could be a good class .
The 07 class had 3 4 star players and 18 3 star recruits. if you saw this page it is intresting that in 2000 Bob Simmons had his worst recruiting class since he came to osu . the non factor list is long and the didnt pan out list was rather long but we sure got 4 good players in Tatum Bell , Ben Buie , Sam Mayes and Clay Coe .

the biggest surprise to me was Elbert Craig and Alvin Porter being 4 star players.

but what happened to wr Chijuan Mack and TE Tremayne Stanberry ?

as i looked over the page i couldnt find the runningback that played for us against Georgia and troy . I think his name was Offafor or something like that. what is the thoughts on these recruits ?

It was an interesting article with the thrust that STARS actually matter. A far higher percentage of 4 and 5 Star atheletes contribute than the lower categories do. On the other hand, they provided the Star rankings for the those in last year's first round of the NFL draft, and I do not recall seeing anyone coming out of H.S. with 5 Stars in the first round.

Regarding the RB, that you mentioned, and I do not know the spelling, Okafor I believe was a walk on and a senior last year.

Chris Massey was a do everything player, and it could have worked to his disadvantage in that he never specialized and honed his skills to one position. I am still very pleased he came to OSU and expect Chris to do well in life.

I'm not sure what the source is for their "star" ratings... But I swear I remember Rashaun Woods being a Rivals 2-star recruit. Not aware of ANY source that had him any higher then that.

I was going to say the same thing, 'Vette. Woods WAS a 2 star, and I think he was even listed as a WR/DB.

It's too bad about Massey. He was pretty dynamite with the ball in his hand, but I seem to remember people "in the know" claimed he couldn't quite grasp the offense for a RB or receiver, so they shuffled him to defense as a safety, corner, safety.

I've actually been wondering similar thoughts regarding Kye Staley. I know we're going to try him as a RB, but whenever you've got a great athlete that can "project to a lot of positions," I just hope the powers that be won't decide to shuffle him around multiple times if he doesn't just dominate as a RB.
