an OSU men's basketball team was below .500 during the season?

The last time we had a losing record for the entire season was the 87-88 season (14-16) and I suffered through that year twenty years ago.

Eddie never had a losing season at OSU. In 96-97, we wer're close to .500 a couple of times and finished 17-15 for the year. Even the year after first final four with Eddie, we finished 17-10 and that was with a very short bench and a lot of injuries.

One interesting thing to note. Eddie's record the first four years of Division I coaching at Creighton: 15-10, 14-11, 15-10, 15-11. Eddie's first losing season was his last season at Kentucky and the current season at San Francisco.

Sean needs at least one more year to start learning and showing that he can motivate players. If he has another season like this one, I doubt that Holder will allow him to stay.

He may "need" another year, but I will be shocked if he gets it.

The only way I see Sean getting another season is if the man Holder wants, doesnt accept the job. If Holder can't get a "big time" coach, then he will keep Sean & try again next year. or not. Who knows.

I dont see Holder being very patient with the current basketball situation.

Even if Holder is able to get a big time coach (which I seriously doubt), do you really think that will bring the people back? I doubt it and that move would alienate a lot of fans and alumni as well. GIA will be a lot emptier than it is now.

Then what happens if the new coach isn't able to get back to the tournament either in two year which is entirely possible? Would he fire the new coach as well?
