T hanks for all the info. you fine Pokes have provided during
my absents.

But the one thing I can't find is info./leads to WHO
the H.S. Jr.'s are they maybe have made early commits/pledges??

I have found a number to USC, Texas, LSU, Ohio State and
a few others but none for our Pokes. Are any of you aware of
early commits?

Go Pokes...

We have no early commitments. We will have a very small class next season. Possilbe only 14 or so depending on the usual variables. They will be very picky with who they take. Going after alot of elite guys, and don't expect to see us sign many "camp finds". Can't take any chances with such a small class expected.

Yes, the big boys will have a dozen commits by May...Texas may have 18, but our guys are already in on the best DT in texas....Jamarkus Russell, Dez's old teamate, and the probable #1 offensive tackle in the nation...from Utah. We may even be the leader with him. They want an elite qb, an elite rb or two. 2-3 offensive lineman, 2-3 defensive lineman, 2 linebackers, 2 wr's, 2 db's, etc.......

Know you're right! Just hadn't put it together, ref. not having
but 14 or so 'ships' for next year.

I am reading many favorable comments ref. the Pokes and
some highly rated recruits. Hopefully we 'll land a qb and
three or four great DL and OL folks.

Robert Allen had an article in his premium service that discussed Junior day a week or so back.

We had about 50 Juniors in, which was good, mostly Oklahomans because Rivals was having a similar event down in Dallas, which most of the "North" Texans attended.

Since it's information intended for his premium service subscribers, I won't post all of it, but there were some pretty big names from OK in attendance and all were favorably impressed.

We also had these guys that we've already offered:

"Among the Oklahoma prospects on hand were three of the four in-state players that have already been offered scholarships by the Cowboys. Those three are Tulsa Union running back Jeremy Smith, Midwest City Carl Albert safety Daytawion Lowe, and Owasso offensive lineman Brandon Webb."

I won't post the rest of what was said, but Johnson at Rivals and Allen at Gopokes do a decent job of providing ongoing information of recruiting. If you're that interested, I would suggest that you subscribe to one of them.

I subscribe to get GoPokes magazine delivered to my house, but often there is good information posted on the premium board and the "IN" articles are always good.

(before you guys start bashing me for posting premium information, I tried to do it in a manner that would not reveal to much, and potentially would represent more of a solicitation for their service, rather than just handing out all the information that he worked so hard to collect).

I don't know anything about the LB... the OG from Utah has his dad post on gopokes quite often... the skuttle but was that if we took his DT brother in this class then he would be a lock, but as it is, we'll need to work hard to get him... probably against USC.

the next Junor day is Feb 23rd mostly for Texas kids.

Jeremy Smith is more than likely OSU bound, from everything I've seen on the OU boards...

And cactus, it's Jamarkus McFarland (not Russell...Jamarcus Russell was the first pick in the 2007 NFL Draft from LSU)...either way, he's a very good prospect, and if he leaves Texas' Junior Day without committing, that's a good sign for everyone else recruiting him....

But I'm still trying to run down this kid in Hawaii...seems USC,
and numerous other Big Time pROGRAMS, NOT oU, are
in on the LB'er. And we seem to be holding in there. Any word folks?

The linebacker is a long shot....I've seen a story or two about him, and he did not mention OSU. I know people are saying we are in on him.
More importantly, we have one of the nations top offensive lineman in Utah saying its down to us and USC. That will be a battle. We are in on about 6 top 100 national kids as of right now. Thats a very high number for us, and at least 4 of them are very serious about us.

Should be a fun year of recruiting. We need a breakout season in the worst way, because our 09 season has the makings of a true championship year.

The '09 class will be a VERY important recruiting class for Gundy.

Not just the class that is important to Gundy's future... this season is important to Gundy's future... he needs to produce with this talent he has this coming year....

The way this season goes also will determine how strong the 2009 recruiting class is...

I do think Gundy can do it and believe in him... but not sure another 7-6 season is good news for Gundy :pete:

Gundy will have an improved record this year.
I hope Polysdad and other Dads around the country see
what OSU is building and want their sons to be a part of it.

I have pulled for the Pokes, in all sports and in academic situations,
for 40 + years and I am not about to stop now :)

So here's hoping 2008 will be a great year for football and all sports
and I sure hope for a bunch of great players for next Feb.

End of the Rant, sorry
