EUGENE, Ore. -- The No. 3 Oklahoma State wrestling team improved to 14-2-1 overall this season with a 33-3 win over Oregon on Friday at McArthur Court. The win improved the Cowboys to 15-0-0 all-time against the Ducks.

Top-ranked 133-pounder Coleman Scott was stunned by unranked Ryan Dunn, whose takedown with three seconds remaining in the third period fueled the 5-3 upset. The Cowboys overcame Scott's defeat thanks largely to Jack Jensen's pin of Marcus Myers at 184, Jared Rosholt's 23-8 technical fall win over Charlie Alexander at 285 and Neil Erisman's 12-3 major decision win over Kyle Bounds at 157.

Sophomore 141-pounder Brad Neitenbach made his dual match debut for OSU and used a five-point move in the second period for a 9-8 win over Cody Moulton. Neitenbach stepped in for No. 2 Nathan Morgan, who was resting a leg injury.

Seeing a score of 33-3, the last thing I would expect is the 3 points Oregon received wasfrom beating Scott. What in the world happened there? Did he get the flu from Dieffenbach?

Way the paper decribes it, Coleman was sleepwalking thru the 3rd period looking for overtime. But the Duck wrestler didn't want overtime and made his shot and got the takedown at 3 seconds left on the time clock.

I don't know about the flu excuse, but there is no excuse not to know the time remaining in the period when the score is tied and the clock is running out. John has preached to the choir time and again about finishing and wrestling out the 3rd period.

More than anything, I'm surprised that it was even close at the end. I figured Coleman would have manhandled an unranked guy and there wouldn't have even needed the issue of going to overtime at the end.
