I bought Pat Jones' book this week. I started reading it when I got home after work on Monday and didn't put it down until it was finished. When Pat left, I was one of many that really wanted him gone long before he left. I even thought nothing Pat would write would be good for OSU. I must say I enjoyed it and it reflected OSU in a very positive way.
He tells several stories about players and coaches that I had long forgot. He made a Quarter back change one year that was very similar to Bobby Reid/Zac Robinson situation. Ronnie Williams was a Jr quarter back who the previous year lead the cowboys to the Gator Bowl and won the game all while his jaw was wired shut. He had broken it earlier in the season. Ronnie was turning the ball over 3-4 times a game and at half time, Pat told Ronnie that he was going with Mike Gundy. Pat moved Ronnie to wide receiver and he played out the rest of his career in that position. Hart Lee and Thurman were very close to Ronnie and were very upset about the change. Hart Lee even made the statment that he might never catch another pass. We all know how that turned out.
I give the book 5 petes. :pete::pete::pete::pete::pete:

I have asked this before, but fat Pat said before the book came out something about his connection to Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson. Pat was 4 years behind Jerry and Jimmy at arkie u. we know jimmy went into coaching while Jerry went into drilling gas wells (in Oklahoma) with kick backs from the state of arkie which got him the money to buy the dallas cowboys

the only connection I see is they all went to arkie u?

and to the Willy Anderson fund Mel Campbell former WR confirmed on rivals awhile back that his was in the room when pat got the call that Hart Lee was changing his mind and Pat said "do whatever it takes"....first time we out bid zerou for a player

I believe Mr. Iba misjudged the honesty of this man.

maybe he did not, he had been out of the picture for quite sometime when this happened, he retired in the mid 70's

Mr. Iba was a big supporter of Jones when he was hired as head coach. It certainly would not be first time or the last time someone's faith in another was unfounded.
