Recruiting roundup was a blast!

We had a great time with friends and our cowboy family. Packed house, with a great show. Met the new coaches. They seem like a great group. Very personable, and ready to make things happen.
Lots of great stories, I'll try and post more in depth about it later. Here are some pics.

Coach Jones, the new secondary coach was telling us that he likes to bump and run. He wants to be physical. He said we would lead the nation in interceptions! Of course, Trooper promised the #1 offense in the nation too. Thats probably got a better chance.

We heard stories from Trooper about how a ladies dog wouldn't quit humpin coach Gundy's leg. Gundy would throw the dog off, and it would come right back and start humpin again. During a recruiting visit.

Coach Wick had parents of big Lane Taylor(I think) bring their brand new 50 foot motor home up on his visit. He wanted to put them in the Atherton, but they were like, no way, we bought this yesterday, and we are staying in it. So they are going all over campus trying to find a place to park it....finally had to park out by the soccer....looking for plug ins, nobody knows what they are, etc....good story.

Brewer told some good one's. The Blackmon kid from plainview. Everyone started trying to get in on him after we offered. He was at a basketball game a few weeks ago, and saw Missouri coach down on the floor talking with Blackmons coach. Brewer was up sitting next to momma....he was like "the missouri coach had his coach, but I had his momma"....you always want momma!
Said he got up, and when he came back, the missouri coach was up there talking to her, said he leaned in and asked her what colors her boy was going to be wearing in college, and she said ORANGE AND BLACK!!! Brewer leans over and says "hear that....not gold and black".....and that was that!

The new safety from juco has a nickname called "The Punisher". He grew up in Haiti, and has only played a few years of football, but is very good. His coach said he was the best player he's had, and expects great things from him at OSU, and the next level.

Defo talked about the garden city juco's. He recruited all three. Said, when you see juco's, the rules are you must see their parents on the same day. So they see them...fly some little plane to garden city...get in a pinto or something, and are lost...see them, and then he drives to wichita, and flies to Florida to see Swanson Millers parents...sells osu, and then fly's to georgia, to see Johnson's parents, and then drives to north Georgia...almost midnight by now to see Gray's parents. After that, he goes to Atlanta to fly to Houston to see a kid the next morning at 8am. Gets to Houston in the middle of the night. He's late. His rental car is already rented, and his room is gone too, because he's way late.

And you think the life of a recruiter is exciting!!!!!!!!!!!! He says!, lol.

Beckman was charged up as well. I believe he's gonna get this defense going the right direction this season.

They gave Fedora a few shots as well. Wick could have gone with him, but you can tell he's never been happier at a school than he is in stillwater. He never wants to leave.
He was talkin about Lane Taylor, the big olineman, and he says "I don't look at stars, etc....I look at three things in an offensive lineman.
1) He's Physical
2) He's tough
3) He loves football



Well, there was a bunch more, but we were drinking and talking a bunch too, so I missed alot of Meacham, Luper, and Gundy. All in all, another great night of video's, stories, and getting to mingle with the coaching staff. The roundup really gives you an opportunity to talk openly with the coaches in a very comfortable atmosphere. After we go 10-3 this season, next years will have to be moved somewhere bigger!

One of the funniest things I heard from last night was from Gunter Brewer. He was taking off his jacket and he said you know, I don't know about ya'll, but I heard you can get these jackets REAL cheap over in Arizona. Referring to the uo player stealing the jacket from Men's Warehouse in Arizona. Man, the crowd erupted with laughter and I couldn't believe he said that because he said they were going to have to take it easy on some of their stories because the media was there for the first time since we've had the recruiting round-up.

He told us about the media being there and I said man we shouldn't let those guys in here, he said I know we need to lock'em out or maybe make'em pay double. I don't know if many of you have heard Brewer talk, but he's got a Mississippi accent and it seems like nearly everything he says is funny!!

All in all a very entertaining night and some very good beer was shared by all!!! If you haven't been I suggested making it up there for one sometime.
