Oklahoma State junior point guard Byron Eaton collected two steals against Colorado to tie Ivan McFarlin's school record of 170 career steals.

The tying steal came when Eaton stripped Colorado's Richard Roby and passed to Terrel Harris for a dunk with 6:05 remaining.

Eaton also collected his 295th assist, moving into a 14th-place tie with Sean Sutton on the school's career list.

Slow play: Colorado made only five field goals and four free throws during a 16-point first half. It was the Buffs' fewest points in any half this season and it was the fewest first-half points by a Cowboy opponent in a span of 75 games. Pepperdine scored 16 in the first half on Jan. 3, 2006.

"This game was lost in the first 20 minutes when we avoid contact going to the rim and double-clutch and so we don't finish layups and we avoid contact on defense," CU coach Jeff Bzdelik.

CU scored 47 second-half points and Sutton indicated the Buffs got a jump-start when Roby made a buzzer-beating 3-pointer just before halftime.

Rookie production: OSU freshmen Martavius Adams and Nick Sidorakis came off the bench to play a collective 29 minutes.

"I thought Martavius and Nick gave us a lot of quality minutes tonight and I think it was a result of how well they have practiced the last couple of days," Sutton said. "We need those guys to continue to improve to help the team."

Birthday soon: Freshman center Ibrahima Thomas will turn 21 Thursday.

Moving up: Senior forward Marcus Dove moved into an eighth-place tie with Johnny Pittman on OSU's all-time blocked shot list. Freshman guard James Anderson moved past Ronnie Daniel into fifth place on OSU's all-time rookie scoring list. Anderson has 327 points.

Milestone: Roby made his 106th career start, breaking the Colorado record held by Donnie Boyce, who played from 1991-95. Afterward, Roby said the Buffs missed shots they had to make. "This is a sign of an immature team," he said.

Charity work: OSU's 38 free throws were two short of a school series record. The Cowboys attempted 40 twice previously against the Buffs.
