As I sat and watched the fiasco unfold last night, I kept asking myself (and my brothers), "What would you do if you were the D Coordinator/"

And the answer is not much you could do. The Houston offense is downright scary good. Speed and depth everywhere. An incredible scheme that could only be pulled off by a great QB.

If you add two tipped balls for TD's and that offense's execution, they would beat OU, TX, Tech.....anybody in the big 12. Not saying they will beat Tech. But if they play as good as they did last night's execution, they will rip Tech apart.

We weren't as good as the hype, but we aren't as bad as we feel this morning. But we are still a very good team capable of winning the Big 12.

Remember their first offensive play? QB faked a handoff left, then pump faked a pass right, then hit the receiver back on the left for a nice gain. Did anybody else know right then that it was going to be an uphill battle?

When we got pressure on the QB, he had a tendency to screw up, just like any other person on the planet. Obviously, we just didn't do that often enough.

Very little pressure, and we have some great tacklers. Gundy needs to burn the '88 D highlights film, all 15 second of it, and stop using it a motivational tool.

If I were the D coordinator, I would probably tell the O Coordinator that his players better be running the steps all week until they can learn to hang onto the freaking ball, and stop making drive killing penalties.

Defense was NOT our problem... as ususal.

CC, the D was as much the problem as the O.

There isn't one aspect of the game that we won.

We had a Punt Return TD, but we also had the turnover on the kickoff, so Special Teams was a wash.

The offense was a cluster, and the Defense gave up 512 yards.

So yeah, the D was our problem, but it wasn't the only problem.

I agree with ya Ben. We had some major mistakes on both sides of the ball and special teams that contributed to this loss.

well, I still call BS on that... if we weren't stopping ourselves, their offense would never have been out there. If the offense could have done anything, then the defense would not have been out there so long.

We got plenty of stops; many more than in the past, and more than enough to win that game.

Not saying the defense was anything great, nobody ever has, but everybody expects the offense to be great... and they were far from that, very far.

Serious question... How many stops did we really have?? I know they didn't punt at all in the whole first half. And I think we only had 4 in the 3rd quarter. I haven't looked it up, but I don't think we had that many stops...

Houston had 4 punts in the game and threw one interception. They also had a 31 yard field goal after being stop at the 14 yard line.

A deeper look at Saturday’s game should give Cowboys fans hope.

Houston’s 45-point outburst had as much to do with lackluster play from OSU’s offense and bad penalties than it did with a poor defense.

OSU turnovers led to two of Houston’s six touchdowns. Two more touchdowns came shortly after special teams blunders. One score came after the unintended onside kick late in the first half, and another touchdown came after a 31-yard punt return by the Cougars’ Tyron Carrier to the OSU 33-yard line.

There are no excuses for Houston’s 96- and 80-yard touchdown drives and a 66-yard march that resulted in a field goal.

But that accounted for only 17 points.

When OSU needed the defense to get stops in the third quarter, it came through, allowing the Cowboys to take the lead. But they allowed the 80-yard touchdown march after the Cowboys took a 35-31 fourth-quarter lead.

"You’ve got to give them credit,” Young said of Houston. "They did an exceptional job. They had a great game plan and executed awfully well.”
Nonetheless, there were positive signs in the second half with OSU’s defense allowing just one drive of over 41 yards and forcing Houston to punt four times.

We can agree to disagree.

I feel it was a complete team effort, the offense was as bad as the defense as the defense was as bad as the offense.

The offense couldn't move the ball and the defense couldn't stop the Houston's offense.

In my opinion, that is a horrible combination, an I hope I never see it again.

I agree that you're wrong. :catfight:

And after our D made an interception, the offense gave the frickin' ball right back.

Ahem....I don't know what naughty thing YOU are thinking about, JB, but I told mejake that if he planned on staying in the OSS doghouse all the time, he was liable to get fleas. :D
