The Booker T. Washington vs. East Central High School football game was ended in the third quarter after massive fights broke out among the spectators.
All available police have been called to the stadium and have used pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
EMSA spokeswoman Tina Wells said shortly after 10 p.m. that five ambulances have been sent to the scene but that no one had yet been transported to a hospital.
With 7 minutes and 29 seconds left in third quarter, the game was halted, and players huddled on the field while police responded to the fights.
The players then went to their locker rooms, and the game was called with the score at 28-7, with Washington in the lead.
Tulsa Public Schools spokeswoman Tami Marler said several fights broke out during the second half.
"Police determined that the final fight was just too big for anyone to control, so the refs called the game," she said.
Marler said TPS uses 15 police officers, 15 security guards and a private security firm to patrol high school football games each Friday. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
