Where were you that morning and what did you do the rest of the day?
I was at home on 9-11-01. My daughter had called me and told me to turn on the TV. I too saw the burning NYC building and then the plane hit the second tower. It was not unlike the morning when I was in my office and my mother called to check on where I was. I was scheduled to be in downtown OKC that morning to file court documents. That morning was two days after a tax deadline in April 1995. It was the first of two mornings that broke my heart.
A TV brought the horror of hate into my office and my home on two different occasions just after the morning hour of NINE AM.

I remember I was in bed in Tulsa, at the time I was working overnight, and I would sleep to the sound the Tulsa sports station, I woke up at 11AM and Jim Rome wasn't on, it was still Michael DelGiorno.
I was like what the hell is he still doing on? There is nothing worth pre-empting the Jungle?!?!?!?
I heard about the plain crash, listened for a while, didn't buy into the dramatics, shrugged my shoulders and turned on the TV.
I WAS FLOORED. Less then 5 minutes after I turned on the TV, the first building went down.
My first thought was revenge, I wanted to find the a-holes that did this and make them pay. I was ready to join the army that week, seriously.
I also had a second question feeling, Curiousity. Why would someone hate America so much that they would kill our innocent citizens.
I won't get into my opinions on why Bin Laden did this, I'll save that for later in the thread.

I was putting in new tile on the bathroom floor in a house we had bought to flip when my wife came in and told me somebody had just flew a plane into the WTC. We had a small portable TV and we both went in and started watching the news. We were sitting there in shock when we saw the second plane crash into the other tower. I can still rememer the feeling of sadness that ovewrwhelmed me. I told my wife the World will never be the same. So far it hasn't.
I was in my dorm at NEO. I don't remember what channel I turned it to, may of been MTV, and they were showing it.
I went to my class that morning, and we watched the news the whole time.
Like lewis I thought about joining the army as well, but they wouldn't of taken my fat butt to war =P

I was sitting in my dorm at Oklahoma State as a freshmen... didn't go to my classes at all that day... just could not have focused anyway on English, Math..etc....
I was so sad but at the same time I felt God's love even more that day.... knowing all those hero's and all the citizens lifting up and saving people as one.... America really came together that day

Senior year of high school - I was in my calculus class. Our teacher had left the room to go make copies and had to go downstairs to the copy room down there, and she noticed the attacks on the TV of one of the rooms down there. She came back into our room and turned the TV on just in time to see the second plane strike the Towers...I know both my parents remember where they were when Kennedy was killed...this is one of those days where I'll never forget where I was....

I was on my way to work, and when I got there I turned on the tv. I sat down at my desk, and I remember thinking a plane had lost control and crashed into it. About that time, a second plane flew into the building. I started freaking out. I knew then that we were under attack.
Everyone came running in my office, and we all watched. That was the sickest feeling I've ever had. And i was scared, wondering where they would attack next. I called my son, who was a freshman at OSU. I didn't want him leaving Zink hall.

12 blocks from the WTC after finishing a breakfast meeting. I took a taxi to my mid-town office, and my entire office watched in awe, as we had just sold a division of our company to a downtown company and 6 of our former compadres/close friends were on the 98th floor. One of them called a close friend in my office to say "goodbye" as the heat and smoke rose up to meet them.

Me and my wife were driving into work at was both of our first jobs out of college (graduated Dec. 2000) and I remember Rick and Brad on 100.5 FM mentioning that there were reports that a plane had crashed into the WTC and they were cracking jokes about how could any small plane pilot not see that thing. At the time most thought it was like the earlier incident when a small plane accidentally hit a skyscraper (can't remember details on that now). After dropping my wife off at her job and getting to mine though the true meaning of what had happened became evident as I was walking to my desk and just happened to be passing a TV when the second plane hit. No work happened that day and for quite a few after.

I was working in a kitchen in Norman and heard the first report on the radio and was not really paying attention. Once the second plane hit it had my full attention, my brother had an office in the WTC. I call my parents to see what they knew and had they gotten in touch with my brother. I spent most of the day waiting to hear from my brother, because the other fear was he was on a plane because at that point in his life he was traveling 20-23 days a month. Around 5:00 he called and said he was safe, later he told us the story of his day. That day he was supposed to have a 9:00 am meeting in his office, but Monday at 5:00 one of the people who was supposed to be at the meeting called and said they would not be in for the meeting so the other people decided to stay late and have the meeting and work out of their houses the next day. No one in office lived. By the smallest of chances he lived. I still do not completely understand it. I am grateful he is alive, he has since got married and had a child, but when people say it is the grace of God, I wonder about those who died and where was God's grace for them.
The other thing I remember from that day was a coworker was 8 1/2 months pregnant and she went into labor in the office that day. When the ambulance arrived she was almost to the point of screaming for them to stop the baby from coming because she did not want born on that day.
That day was my birthday.

My wife and I had just moved to Arkansas. She was at work and I was working out of the my office that day at home. I had just taken a break and was actually checking one of the OSu websites (we had just lost to Southern Miss in Les' first season) when I heard the news. I rushed to the TV set in time to see the first tower fall.
What a sad day.
May we never experiece anything like this again.

I was in junior in high school at the time. I was sitting in human anatomy class when my teacher told us a plane hit the WTC. We all thought it was some small plane that accidently hit the tower. Shortly after turning on the tv we watched the second plane hit. We stayed in that class all day, just watching the news.
That next may I joined the national guard to do my part in serving the country. I have not been over seas, but most of my buddies that joined at the same time have been.

I had just left a customers office and was heading back to my office to finish paperwork for the week. Just happened to turn on the radio and listened to the news about an airplane flying into the World Trade Center. By the time I got back to the office, the second plane had crashed. Everybody in our office was jammed into one tiny office watching the news on tv. We didn't get much work done that day.
My heartfelt Thanks to all our men and women in uniform who sacrifice daily to keep this great country safe.

Erin and I were living with my mom in Bristow. We were asleep and she came in to tell us to turn on the TV. A plane had hit the World Trade Center. We got up and turned on the TV to see the early stages of what became a horrific day.
Like many of you, we were thinking it was a tragic accident. Then, the second plane hit and I suddenly felt like I had been punched in the gut by Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and George Foreman at the same time I was being speared by and NFL Lineman.
When they showed the people jumping, I started crying.
When the first tower collapsed, my heart sank.
When they said it was a terrorist attack, I was ready to run marathons to get in shape to join the service.
I left for Tulsa and it was utter chaos with people lined up at gas stations and people sitting transfixed watching what was unfolding. To this day, I have a hard time watching the footage. It took a lot for me to watch the movie "Twin Towers" and see/hear things from the perspective of the men and women of FDNY/NYPD.
The thing I remember most is that it forever changed us as a country. You could call it the Pearl Harbor of my generation.

No, maybe we should all ban together to stop another attack and make the world safe from life's accidents. ;)
