Maybe Obama will figure out he's not fooling everybody. He has a real trust issue. He, again, sounded like he either has no idea what is being proposed or he's lying about it. Evidently, this guy thinks he was lying.

Obama heckled by GOP during speech: 'You lie!'

WASHINGTON – A South Carolina Republican lawmaker shouted "You lie" at President Barack Obama as he addressed Congress on Wednesday, prompting a GOP senator to call for an apology.

In his speech in the House chamber, Obama was telling lawmakers that the Democratic plans for health care overhaul do not cover illegal immigrants.

"The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," Obama said.

"You lie!" Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., shouted from his seat, jabbing a finger in the air.

Following the speech, it was Obama's Republican rival from last year's presidential race for the White House who defended the president.

It was "totally disrespectful," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said on CNN of Wilson, a conservative who has opposed Obama's economic remedies. "There is no place for it in that setting, or any other, and he should apologize for it immediately."

Wilson's spokesman Ryan Murphy did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Wilson's outburst caused Obama to pause briefly. Behind him House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., could be seen glaring in Wilson's direction, but there was no move by Democratic leaders to censure Wilson. First lady Michelle Obama, in the visitors' gallery, shook her head from side to side disapprovingly.

Neither the House nor the Senate health care overhaul bills would provide coverage for illegal immigrants.

Wilson's wasn't the only interruption during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress.

Earlier, Republicans laughed when Obama acknowledged that there still were significant details to be worked out before a health overhaul can be passed.

I wonder when he figured that out.

Evidently, this is not the first time this has happened and both parties have been guilty of heckling.

I think it was a little unprofessional but man man the look on Pelosi's face was classic. Honestly she should of had that look when Obama said it wont apply to illegal aliens and when the republican yelled out "you lie."

I think we'd be better off if they ran these little get-togethers like the Brits. Those meetings of Parliament get pretty spirited. :D

Didn't a Republican House member try to amend that bill while it was in committee to specifically exclude illegal immigrants? Wasn't that amendment voted down?

I think you're right on that, but honestly I don't know.

It shouldn't include them. I'm certain I'll be called out on that by someone, but it just shouldn't. I don't think Canada or Britan's system would cover someone illegally within their borders, but again I'm not sure.

I think there is a time and place, and that wasn't it, but if they are gonna stand up there and lie, maybe they should "be called out on it".

I agree, the look on NP's face is priceless.

Miss Nancy would have heart failure if she were in Parliament. No one questions Nancy or the Democrats and gets away with it!

I just saw an AP story which verified that illegals are indeed excluded from this bill, although I don't see how that will fly. Illegals aren't excluded from public education and public housing, so I don't see how they will be excluded from public health care. I can walk over to the county health department right now and verify that myself.

I agree. A moderated heated debate.

Both sides could call each other on their Bulljive.

Wilson did break decorum, but an important question....

IS HE WRONG?!?!?!?!

No, he's not wrong and

No, it's not the first time this has happened....as the state-run media and the Dems would have us believe. The Dems established precedent back in one of Bush's speeches...a fact they have completely forgotten about. They are the one's who will end up looking silly over all the fuss they are raising.

I agree 100%

Been saying that for a while.

Heck, let em slug it out! I wouldn't mind seeing someone pound Barney Frank.

On second thought, the way he swings, that statement could be taken out of context. I'm sure he has been thoroughly pounded on a multitude of times, but in no way would I ever want to see that.

Ewwww.

I just sent our congresmen an e-mail asking them to extend my gratitude to Joe Wilson for his courage since his website is not working due to heavy traffic. I'msure they won't do it but they will at least be aware evryone wasn't offended. I guess that means I thought he wasn't wrong. I at least thought Congress' feigned indignation wasn't sincere.

According to what I saw on tv this morning, Obama said illegals will not be covered. Here in lies the problem: According to the way the bill reads people will not have to prove their citizenship to get medical attention. Not sure how true all of this is but take it for what it is worth.

And there's the rub! If you don't have to prove your citizenship, then... the bill covers illegal aliens.

Are you people seriously saying that you believe if a person, a human being, comes into the emergency room dying with a treatable problem, and that person happens to be an illegal immigrant, then that person should be left to die?

No, I'm just saying that we are financially screwed for many reasons. Illegal immigration is one of those reasons.

By the way, where the heck have you been?

So, herein lies one of the 1000's of problems w/ this obamacare bill.

We're paying for them now to have medical coverage, and it won't matter whether illegals are in or out of the bill, someone will STILL have to pay for them.

:violent-smiley-017:

Sounds like they get a sweet deal no matter what.

No, that person should be treated and held accountable to pay for the services.

Personally, I believe that people that pay into the system, should recieve the benefits.

I believe border enforcement will stop the flow of new immigrants. I am conflicted as to what should be done with current immigrants.

Personally, I feel if we are not enforcing a law, then there is no law.

Without border enforcement, it will be a moot point.

Yes! start with fixing the basics like boarder reform and tort reform, then this would not be an issue.

Maybe if they were held accountable to pay their bills, they would give up and go back to their own countries !!!
