Fire destroys Mulhall restaurant

MULHALL, Okla. (AP) - An early morning blaze has destroyed a popular restaurant in a historic downtown building in Mulhall.

Crescent police dispatcher Ryan Collier says a resident reported the fire at Lucille's Restaurant at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials were able to get the fire under control by 6 a.m.

Collier says a thunderstorm was moving through the area at the time and that fire officials suspect a lightning strike sparked the blaze.

According to the restaurant's Web site, the recently renovated eatery is located in the old Oklahoma State Bank Building built in 1894.

While the restaurant was "a 95% loss," Collier says fire officials determined the building remained structurally sound.

I've never eaten there but I've heard of it.

Wasn't it one of the places recently featured on the food network show about hole in the wall eateries?

WOW, that is crazy!!! I just ate there for the first time a few weeks ago!!!!! It was a great place and we we're planning on going back sometime during the football season.
