Jamal Mosley, a sophomore who would have been Oklahoma State's starting tight end this season, has left the team for personal reasons.

On OSU's depth chart released this week, Mosley was listed as a starter for Saturday's season-opening meeting with Georgia. But on Tuesday morning, Cowboy coach Mike Gundy confirmed that Mosley, a native of Memphis, Tenn., is leaving the Cowboy program.

“Jamal Mosley is leaving our football team for personal reasons," Gundy said in a statement issued by the university. "He has been a good teammate and we wish him the best. We will have no further comment on this matter.”

Sophomore tight end Wilson Youman is expected to be promoted to the starting position.

So OSU now has Bassett Cooper, RS FR; Justin Horton, RS FR and Wilson Youman. And Mosley isn't even on the roster now. Wow!

So does OSU use an extra lineman on certain plays for blocking?

Youman got most of the PT last year when Pettigrew was out. Youman has more experience than Mosley.

I don't think there will be a problem... Youman was the projected starter until just recently.

Don't count out true freshman Tracy Moore to make an impact as well. Probably not in the UGA game but I can see him being a star at a TE/WR hybrid position.

With Youman having so much game experience and being a blocking tight end that can catch if needed, I think we'll be fine in the running game. I look for one of our WRs to make an impact this Saturday. Cooper is as healthy as ever, Horton has been raved about during camp, we started hearing Blackmon's name come up last year on the scout team, Conner has playmaking potential and is solid as a blocker, Anyiam had a terrific spring game and looked great in scrimmages, Fooks seems to be making plays.....what I'm getting at here is that we have a ton of depth and playmakers on offense that Mosely, although a tough loss, doesn't hurt us that much.

I was more concerned about Cox's deal when I heard about it. Good thing it was only a traffic violation and he'll be able to play

Well whatever it is.. it must be good enough to give up a STARTING position before one of the biggest games EVER to take place in Stillwater....

I think it is dumb to abandon your teammates after you have gone through the toughest part of the season (off season and two-a-days) with them... but I figure it must be pretty bad...

I hope he does well but I know he will be kicking his own butt when he sees what he is going to miss.

I think if Mosely's situation is as bad as it may be, it would be hoove him to take some time off get his head togather, and support his teammates when he is back to regular. He has some he has to take care of, and I think it would become a distraction to both if he doesn't get himself settled.

Hope the outcome for both is good.

I think he was supposed to be Perrish Cox's ride.

All of a sudden this looks a lot worse! From Tennesses Scout page posted by TennStud:

I just talked to a member of the family; the family used to rent from me. Mrs. Mosley is in Stillwater, picking Jamal up. This is an instance of the girl falsely accusing Jamal; Jamal was smart enough to have saved the text messages from the young lady; the Okla. State coaching staff is 100 per cent supportive of Jamal and is giving him GREAT recommendations to coaches all over the country, including 3 SEC schools. The problem at Stillwater is that the lady's father is a most prominent Okla State booster and wanted Jamal off the team. Several of the Okla State coaches have strongly suggested to Jamal that he have any girl, henceforth, sign a consent form before he makes love. Jamal's high school coach, Duron Sutton, is handling most of the coaching talk, ie where he will go. Jamal has numerous opportunities. It looks like Jamal will definitely be in the SEC; if Duron Sutton vouches for him-as he's doing; if his Okla State coaches vouch for him-as they're doing-then some school is getting a GREAT young man and great prospect. He has numerous college choices out of high school, including Ole Miss and several other SEC schools. I'm feeling GREAT about this young man being able to get out of Stillwater and proceeding to another, even greater, program, BECAUSE he deserves it!!

Apparently TennStud is Roy Adams. "Very, Very well connected Tenn. booster in Memphis. He is the person who turned in & testified against Logan Young & the Alabama program in the Albert Means pay to play deal a few years ago where Bama was put on major probation. Roy has broken many, many stories before the media has over the years. If Roy said it, it very well could be true..."

I have to admit that it is funny that the whole VPI is dropped right after Jamal leaves the team and there are no further charges. Why leave if you are not facing some form of charges? Why wasn't he kicked off the team if he did something bad enough for a VPI and potential charges?

I know from experience that the court system in Payne county has an attitude of your guilty even before you get a chance to see a courtroom.

Nice to see "no cajones" is alive and well.

Nice to see boosters don't care about the success of the team ...

IF this is true it'd be a great time for Gundy to actually "Be a man".

I'm sure the truth lies somewhere between "she was a drunk skank known for frequenting athlete's dorm rooms (and Daddy doesn't want to admit it)" and "she was assaulted".

I find it hard to believe she (and her family) would file for a VPO vindictively without any cause.

But I also find it hard to believe a "drop all charges and the VPO" in exchange for "leaving town by sunset" would be brokered if Jamal was truly guilty of anything but having consensual sex.

Neither party is innocent here in my opinion.
