Where's the "The Song Isn't The Best Thing In the World But I'm Not Going To Commit Suicide Over It" option?

As someone who creates stuff, I know how hard it is to create something purely from scratch, especially from an unheard of artist. Who you haven't grown to like (instead of a Shania Twain or a Randy Travis) on top of that, the fans had zero input in it and you can't ignore the obvious Nepotism.

My opinion is at least 50% of the people bitching and moaning about it would have downloaded it if Garth Brooks sang it.

Personally, I am not a country fan, but I do recognize some country is awesome....This doesn't make my list.

I dont think its the song itself.

I think it is the context in which "it seems" the song is going to be used.

If it were for some promo video, or even post game song (replacing shoulda been a cowboy), well that might work.

But.....
It just isnt football entrance music. So, I think the I hate its & I dont like its are more based on the context the song is being used instead of just the opinion of the song, if say the voters heard it on the radio.

it just seems to be very weak as an entrance video song, especially after the 3 songs that have been used to date.

The first 3 songs got you moving, this one just doesnt fit the mold.

Is what Im saying making any sense?
Im judging the song on what it is being used for.

We deserve better, but "nepotism stimulus funds" are going where they're intended.

The truth is that if Garth did sing this it would sound completely different. I'd imagine the production value would have been tremendously better, and a man who's written so many hits could have "fixed" this one before recording it. It may have been a fantastic song if someone else had edited the lyrics and recorded it.

Agreed, GP83. If we had Metallica record this song it would not have come out like this. The lyrics would still be pretty homo, but the song would have at least sounded better.

...and where's the OU SUCKS?!? How can we realistically be expected to embrace a song that doesn't include the fundamental tenant of all OSU traditions?

Good point, GP. Remember the Drew Carrey show? Maybe we should get Garth to record "OU Sucks" to the theme of the Carrey theme "Cleveland Rocks".
