Just saw mention in the DOK that having the A&M game on Thursday night would be great for the money and pub, but not the fans.
I SAY HELL NO to THURSDAY. Are you kidding me, just how much interest is there in THURSDAY night football nationally?? Casual checking only in my opinon. You want an AWAY game on THURSDAY, go for it, but not a HOME GAME.
HOLDER how about listening to the fans for change, for few crummy bucks you want to destroy homefield advantage, stop acting like a 3rd rate country's President with his hand constantly out and understand you need to build a fan base.

I sent him an email indicating that I do not support moving a home game to Thursday night.
I probably would not renew my season tickets if one of the better home contests would be moved so that I could not attend even though I would have already paid for it.

hmmmm being the only game on national TV, as a showcase of a winnable game over a "big name" team that will have a new head coach.
regional TV, possibly.
Hell yes to Thursday Night!!
Open your mind a little bit. I rarely think Holder isn't a clown, but he is right on this one, in my opinion. Night games are more fun anyways!

Hmmm. I didnt have a problem with the Thursday game until now that I see I am on the same side as Lewis. Maybe I should reconsider. :D

I'd love it. It would be a GREAT weekend if you ask me.

Doesn't matter that much to me, but my preference would be no. I'd just take a couple days off to attend if I had to. If a Thursday night game would KILL homefield advantage, it's not an incredibly deep advantage to start.

The DJ biz won't allow me to attend many games this fall. So selfishly I support this one!

Like was said earlier, either have a game that might be on Fox Sports Net and aired regionally, or have a chance to showcase the program and the stadium on National TV when you are the only game on...
Sure a Thursday night game would upset many folks schedules, but I think the benefits outweigh the costs...

Well, I don't think it would be that great of an idea, but I would definitely still be there. I'd probably take Thursday afternoon and Friday off. I agree with vetmed, it would be a great, LONG weekend!!!!

I don't think that the "benefits" outweigh the costs.... I don't think that it is even close...
National TV with and empty stadium coming off a short week to prepare for one of our biggest games of the seaosn; versus, Regional TV with a new packed house with a full week to prepare (we must beat the Aggies)
National TV money and no walkup sales; versus regional TV money and a folks buying tons of single-game tickets.
No Aggies to buy our extra tickets; versus, selling a few thousand extra to our opponents fans, making it a wonderful day in Stillwater.
Actually, I can't think of even ONE benefit of moving the game that doesn't have a downside; while I can't think of any downside of NOT moving the game.

Do You really believe the stadium would be half empty??
That seems ludicrous to me...
Every Thursday Night during football season, there are games on
ESPN and it doesn't appear to me that attendance suffers at these
venues all across the country...
The exposure of being the Thursday Night Game versus being an also-ran game on a Saturday full of contests seems worth it to me...

Moving the aTm game to Thursday night will make some fans choose between watching their sons and daughters at High School (or Jr. High) games. I for one would be forced to choose between OSU or watching my daughter march in the Band for her high school. Sorry but this would be one time OSU would lose.
Another fact that needs to be thought out. We would have no (ZERO) recruits in for probably the 2nd bigest game on our home schedule. No coach is going to let a kid run up to Stillwater the night before their own game for a "Visit". I see this as the BIGGEST factor in the decission.

How many recruits, fans and alumni would see the game if it was buried on a Saturday regional TV among 18 other games?
How many would see it if it was on a Thursday night, nation-wide (albeit cable broadcast)
....and YES, I would DVR The Office and "Earl"

My speculation would be that "fans and alumni" would see the game even if it were played at 1:00 am in Japan; but "hopefully", in this case, they would be IN THE STANDS on Saturday, rather than "watching" it from home on a Thursday night.
As for "recruits", I don't think it really matters much to them, if they want to see us they will find the game, most care more about themselves being on TV after they get here, than watching the current guys on TV. (supposition).

I'm not talking about recruits being able to watch the game on TV. The best part about reuiting is bringing the kids in to watch in person. Let them get a feel for the "BIG GAME" atmosphere. Not a single recruit will be in attendance for a thursday night game. THAT IS A PROBLEM.

Agreed, so do we have 6 or 7 other home games for recruits to attend?

Yeah, you know we have 6 more home games for them, but I think the point people are trying to make is that the A&M game is one of the biggest home Big12 games we play next year.
