OSU Notebook: Greer chooses Virginia

Oklahoma State made a late push to secure a commitment from Steve Greer, a linebacker from Solon, Ohio. Having become a hot commodity late in the recruiting season, Greer announced on Friday that he had committed to Virginia.
Greer also was recruited by Michigan and North Carolina.
Cowboy coaches would like to get one more linebacker commitment. That linebacker could be Zaviar Gooden of Pflugerville, Texas, who made recent visits to OSU and Missouri.
The Staley situation: Sources close to the OSU program continue to express confidence that Guthrie's Kye Staley will sign with the Cowboys, but Staley visited Arkansas last week and won't announce his final decision until Wednesday morning. He had expressed a commitment to OSU months ago and ranks as the Cowboys' highest-rated in-state recruit.
Staley was a quarterback at Guthrie, but has been recruited to play tailback at O-State. Cowboy assistant coach Joe DeForest is believed to have visited Staley on Thursday.
Wish list: OSU continues to campaign for a letter-of-intent signature from highly regarded running back De'Anthony Curtis of Camden, Ark., and from tight end Jamal Mosley of Memphis, Tenn.
Curtis is listed as an Arkansas Razorback commitment, but he continues to view OSU and Ole Miss as options. Mosley is believed to have settled on two possible destinations -- OSU and Ole Miss.
Juniors visit: Saturday was scheduled as Junior Day at Oklahoma State -- a day during which members of the 2009 recruiting class could visit the Stillwater campus and tour the football facilities. Believed to be among the Junior Day visitors are linebacker Michael Doctor of Booker T. Washington High School, running back Jeremy Smith of Union and offensive lineman Brandon Webb of Owasso.
