What if it doesn't? What if the voice of the people is actually heard and this gets shut down? Would his presidency survive, or would we essentially have a 3 year lame duck?

Either way, he will be impacted.

If he crams it through in spite of the opposition, it will get much worse by the mid terms.

If he backs away, the opposition will smell blood.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the blue dog democrats such as Dan Boren from Okla when they get back from break. They might even be in jeopardy of not having enough votes in the House for a cram down, let alone avoiding a filibuster in the Senate

Too much, way, way too quick.

He is operating his Presidency like a thief involved in a smash & grab robbery. Grab everything in sight, right now, cause we ain't gonna be here very long.

In a few years when the analysts look back on this Presidency I don't think anyone will disagree it was health care that got him. Not the stimulus, not the bail outs, not cash for clunkers, not his handling of the war in Afghanistan (where I think he is doing okay). It will be health care that sunk this guy's battleship.

The debt projection, despite more lies from him/cronies, was announced today as an increase from 7 to 9 trillion over the next ten years. As the genius Charles Krauthammer stated so well this evening, that's 2,000 billion dollars; it is an unsustainable level of debt. This should end the cap/tax, health/welfare, etc. crap, but it won't because the "clueless organizer" is too arrogant to "get it. Fortunately, a vast majority of the "folks" do.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ICE CREAM!!

We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream"

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.
Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
place.

He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?

She wasn't sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.

She didn't know.

The class really didn't care.

All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and
52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

JB, I hope you're right. I hope a majority of the "folks" get it.

I guess we will see come Nov. 2010.

Boren was recently quoted in a townhall meeting that he is a no vote for all "healthcare reform" proposal that are presently floating around the Hill.

I have no doubt he gets it; that said, enough of them will cave to pass something to give the messiah a pseudo-victory, or so we'll be told.

I have posted this before and apologize to those that remember. I can remember David Boren saying he understood deficit spending and didn't see how borrowing from yourself would hurt anything. That was prabably 25-30 years ago and we still haven't got it stopped. Healthcare today is unaffordable with our current debt. Congress and ex-presidents have spent us into this position. We need to be thinking about survival, not healthcare. If we don't get spending under control, our time as a world power is limited and all healthcare is going to be very limited.
