OK, lets look at it this way.....

Say Holder were to sell indivdual game tickets for Bedlam. Let's say 20,000 OU fans show up for one game at say $80 each = $1,600,000 Revenue

OR:

3,818 additional OSU season ticket holders (that may show up for seven games) at $419 per ticket = $1,600,000

Now, I'm not sure exactly how all this will turn out. But I can see the possibility of this move by Holder maybe encouraging an extra 3,900 (be that OSU or OU buyers) season tickets being sold. Anything over that 3,900 mark, and Holder/OSU is coming out ahead on the revenue line compared to selling a stadium full of one game tickets to Bedlam.

It does have some logic to it when you think about it that way. Heck, I may buy a couple "extra" season tickets and sell off the OU game on e-bay. That will leave me some pretty cheap seats for the other 6 OSU home games.

Is the goal of the athletic department to make money; or to be an outlet for alums and students to have a recreational activity and give athletic students an opportunity to recieve a scholarship by promoting the University?

serious question??

I would LOVE to see the Oklahoma State University Athletic Department Mission Statement.

Both.

The goal of every athletic dept. is to make money. BUT, they also have to meet that goal while trying to be an outlet for alums and students to have a recreational activity. IMO, they are doing a great job and need to make more money. I believe they are creating a great outlet for activities and am ready for those activities to begin again in April at the spring football game!!!!!

Encouraging season ticket purchases with a well thought out offering plan manages to do both.

Good idea. Think of the message we could send to Holder if every season ticket holder sold their UO tickets to goons in order to offset the cost of their season tickets.

(note to self, wait for it........);)
