Have you noticed that the Big 12 Conference is finally using OSU's Preferred Athletic Logo? I emailed them last year about it, but they still haven't got it right everywhere.

It is obviously a one way street with the Big 12 Conference.
So is "Big 12" OK or not? Is it one those do as I say and not do as I do?
When referring to the Big 12 Conference, please remember the conference name (which is a registered trademark) should be listed as follows:
Big 12 Conference
The following should NOT be used in text when referencing the Big 12:
Big XII
Big Twelvehttp://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=10410&KEY=&ATCLID=1514841

For what it's worth, "Big 12" is (and I'm assuming always has been) the preferred nomenclature as dictated by the Associated Press Style Guide.
I wonder why the heck they have a logo with Roman numerals, then? It's all so confusing...

I figure it was kind of a combination of aesthetics, and, perhaps more importantly, just to differentiate the Big 12 logo a little bit from the Big 10 logo.
Yeah, and it is pretty eye-catching, as logos go.

Also, perhaps the AP number rules:
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14...
Just ask Hallie - I'm sure she'll know what I'm talking about. Not like that wasn't pounded into our brains over and over again ;)

Don't forget the abbreviations for the States. There are three common ones here (http://www.nyu.edu/classes/copyXediting/STABBREV.html), that is the Chicago Manual of Style, AP, and the U.S. Post Office's Zip Code.
When written in text it's:
Colo.
Iowa is just Iowa
Kans. or Kan.
Mo.
Nebr. or Neb.
Okla.
Tex. or Texas

Let's be honest. I have NO idea what the preferred logo is. And I've been a fan for 40 years. Is it the "Brand"? The big O with state through it?

The OSU Secondary Athletic Mark Word Mark which is on this list appears to have expired, or it may be just the one with the small font "University".
