White House:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov

Here's (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/) the link to the White house asking you to turn in anyone who questions authority.

Sheesh. For all the times it was thrown around by the Dems about Bush, this truly smells like the politics of a

Seriously?!!!! Dang Vulgar, even you have to have a problem with this!If you hear something disparaging about Obama's health care reform , even in CASUAL CONVERSATION the White House wants to hear about it?

Fishy? Is that a bureaucratic term now?

The whole thing really does smell fishy.

They want to hear about it so they can address the rumors that are most common before the become common misconception. If you ever visited Obama's website during the campaign they did they same thing. It's hard to win a PR war when you don't know what you are fighting.

If the white house starts doing their press releases in newspeak then we have a problem.

Bull CORN! They aren't asking you to tell them what rumors you may hear, or what questions you may have. They're telling you to forward emails and websites that aren't favorable to their agenda. Big difference.

How is there a difference? How are they supposed to dispel these ridiculous rumors unless they are aware they exist? It's amazing the conclusion that you have drawn and what you have chosen to comprehend based upon the information available on that web page as well as the dozens of similar web pages used during the campaign for the exact same purpose.

Do you also think Bill Gates is trying to drain your checking account every time IE crashes and wants you to send an error report?

Bill Gates isn't asking me to send him an email address or websites my friends send me saying they doesn't like Vista and is buying a Mac.

"It's amazing the conclusion that you have drawn and what you have chosen to comprehend"

It's written in black and white!!! They're not asking for rumors, they're asking for email addresses and websites!

Read the first amendment. Of course I'm sure you'll have a different "comprehension" of what that means too. If Bush had tried something anywhere close to this the press would have skewered him relentlessly, and with good cause! And the campaign Obama ran isn't exactly something I'd hold up as an example of greatness.

Your blind obedience is just pathetic.

I keep trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt but his admin keeps doing really crazy things that make me not trust them. That and the constant lying. This guy and the other clowns in DC are trying to steal our republic, what is left. He is so interested in pushing his socialist program thru he is not worried about stabilizing the country first.
I have been to both tea parties and I plan on going to a townhall meeting next week. I have never been politically active but I have no intention of letting the good things in this country slip away without doing everything I can within the law to protect it. If that's hysteria, then so be it but 20 years from now I don't want to be sitting and wishing I had done more. BTW, I am an independent who voted for Carter and I don't even consider that the worst vote I ever cast.

Actually Bush did try something very close to this.

You might look into his Operation TIPS.

IMO, asking specifically for email addresses, possible points of contact, and for information about things heard "through casual conversation" goes over the line, but isn't as insidious as the anti donkeys want to make it out to be.

Like most things Presidential, the Obamaites want to dismiss everything as meaningless while the Elephants want to make him the Anti-Christ. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Just a question. Had anyone actually followed the link and read the information on the page? Maybe watch the video... Context helps. Its really a beautiful thing that you guys are insinuation some ulterior motives about a web page that the white house is using to try to dismiss the rumors about the same - misinformation that begins....well, places like this message board.

A big cookie for the first person to show me where they ask for specific information such as names and email address (because if I want to track someone down I go with email address).

A big cookie for the first person to show me where they ask for specific information such as names and email address (because if I want to track someone down I go with email address).

"Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

They're clearly asking for the e-mail itself of the url itself to be sent to the White House. Therefore, they are clearly requesting information regarding the address and origination. They didn't say "tell us what it said" or "ask us if it's true". That request isn't exactly a FAQ and rumor busting request. It's a request for copies of the e-mails and items on the website with origination information.

Now give me my damn cookie.

Really though, if this doesn't creep you out at least a little bit you definitely do have sheeplike tendencies when it comes to this administration. At the same time, this isn't close to the gestapo tactics the right are trying to paint it as either.

Don't worry, I already did my duty and turned in the URL for this message board to them. They responded and gave me a thank you citizen and told me they would take a very special interest in the people here.

I don't need to watch the video. I met your challenge. I gave you an example of them specifically asking for email addresses. Now give me my damn cookie.

Furthermore, I've already said this wasn't a huge deal, just a little creepy. Your hysterical attempts to completely dismiss and marinalize even the least little criticism of your premier leader indicates to me that it's you suffering from paranoia. It's as if your world will come crashing down if you admit that your shepherd screwed up even a little. Very sheeplike I must say.

Funny how they are doing just the opposite and you have bought it.

It is their MISINFORMATION that is being questioned, and they want a nazi type oversight so that they can force their bad information down people's throats without a debate. Now that the debate has started, in earnest all across the US, they are acting absolutely desparate, and desparate is not how a sitting President should act, regardless of the subject matter of the debate.
