We're headed up to the emergency room at City Hospital to get some imaging done on my child bride at the urging of our family doctor.

He suspects a possible TIA so a quick CT is in order.

This may be nothing but a long evening in some uncomfortable chairs, but prayers would be gratefully accepted.

Sounds like a fairly unpleasant day, all around. I hope it's all good news, and the wait at the hospital is very short. Prayers sent.

If it is a TIA, they'll locate it on either a CT or MRI. A TIA is a "warning"... there is no lasting damage. My mom has had them frequently. I posted about her having them not long ago. The docs said they are warning signs of yet another stroke. Unlike a stroke, there is no brain damage with these. Thank God.

Let us know if what they find on the CT, and the region involved if they do find something.

I really know quite a bit about this kind of stuff. I've studied it for 10 years. I've had to know about it.

I don't know what all of that "TIA" stuff means but it sounds like it could be serious?

Continued prayers for Dortha's son and daughter-in-law and for your daughter and you as well.

We now know there has been no stroke (major, minor or indifferent) but very little else.

The CT revealed nothing but the Dr. said that a CT might not catch a TIA unless it was actaully "in progress" at the time. The next step will be to see a neurologist and see what we can learn.

She's whupped (and sleeping soundly) .. I'm whupped too .. lol

On the upside.. we did get to listen to a drnk cuss at his girl friend (loudly) on his cell phone for the last hour of our visit.

Catching a TIA on CT might be pretty difficult, since they typically last only a minute or so. It will show damage though, if there is a chance of a stroke. Sounds like there wasn't. That's good news.

You are you talking about Dortha, correct? (Sea's post confused me)
Is she in the hospital?

Did they look at the carotids? When is the last time she has had a stress test? Or looked at her heart?

Unfortunately, about five a day, sometimes less.

Here is where I say that I really need to decrease that 5 to zero.

I see the neurologist next Wednesday.

No problem, Jeremy. I really got a laugh out of it. If I didn't know my husband so well, I would have been confused too.

I'm glad you wife is doing somewhat better, but you stick to your guns about the hospital. Our prayers still sent your way.

Annie, I would really like to know what all this means. The ER doctor said that with the type of CT he did that if I have had a TIA it wouldn't be visible unless it just occurred. After what happened with my Mother, I really am taking things more seriously now with my health. Heart problems on both sides of my family run generations back. This is the first I have ever personally run into these problems I have been having the last several months, really since my surgery in August. It just comes and goes with no warning. I hopefully will know more after the neurologist does an EEG, comprehensive MRI and/or CT. The ER doctor was a little concerned with the lack of strength in my right arm, hand, leg, and foot. He said that the crease from the outside of the nose to the lips is how it should be on the left side but is flat on the right side. Any info about that, Annie? Thanks for any info you can send my way.
